les masques by James Ensor
Contributed by: tvc

les masques by James Ensor

Look at them
how eloquent they all are

At first sight they look vivid later rather pale
but yet dressed so colorful

Like a party is at hand
laughs, a baby delightful colors
are they happy ?

look closer and
you’ll see
the masks
they are wearing

till beyond the shadow of doubt

you can almost hear
through the monstrous faces
pictured in the back
the tears and screams
of … happy people?

Now look inside
and then around you
can you see who wears the masks?

Note: please look up the portret if you read this because this poem is inspired by les masques by James Ensor.
